Tesla wasn;t a foolish businessman he was not a businessman at all, his main drive was to invent, to create, and in a capitalist society what matters more than being a productive member is being a person who can sell things better. As for Edison, he ripped off several of his inventions and focused on making things epcifically to sell rather than making things for discovery's sake. Thats why capitalism doesn't function properly, because it is based on the manipulation of people rather than doing it for the good of humanity, as Tesla was doing.
